Stories of Impact

Eryn Cayetano

Ever since I was little, I’ve thought of First Break Academy as my second home. I’ve been going to First Break since I was 13 years old, and I am forever grateful for everything they have done for me and my family. There is no other place that I have been to that cares for their students as much as them. The amazing coaching staff taught me more than the game of tennis. I have learned the importance of hard work and dedication, and how to balance school work with tennis. Currently attending USC on a tennis scholarship, I believe the skills taught at the Academy are what made my (tennis) dreams into a reality. Reflecting on my years at First Break, I know that without them, I would not be where I am today.

I was born and raised in Inglewood, California. I started playing tennis at around the age of five. Tennis has always been part of my life, so being able to play tennis in college is an honor. However, I did go through a few bumps in the road to get to this point. During my high school years, I didn’t play as much competitive tennis. This of course made me a bit worried that I would not be able to play college tennis. I was introduced to Ramp/First Break Academy and with the help of the most caring and professional coaching staff, they helped me achieve my goal. I was able to get just the right amount of coaching/caring/and guidance from First Break! Through training and providing me with the right tools, I was able to play tennis at San Diego State University.
